Chris Robinson flies free

Chris Robinson flies free

“They say the only people who know true freedom are musicians and gangsters,” Chris Robinson says with a laugh. “And Bob Dylan said: ‘to live outside the law, you must be honest’. We’re living in these anxiety-filled times, in an era of ‘no truth,’ but what our music represents is this truly honest way of communicating with people, and that’s a really freeing thing.”

Most classic rock fans have heard of The Black Crows, and of course, they love the hits: She Talks to Angels, Jealous Again, Hard to Handle… Chris Robinson knows those songs are quintessential to his loyal fanbase. Those songs are the reason his fans ‘buy the ticket, and take the ride.’ When The Black Crows disbanded back in the early 2000’s, Chris started more than a few side projects. He recorded new music. He toured with various players. Eventually, Chris Robinson Brotherhood debuted in 2010, and they performed all over the country and played the new stuff. But night after night, fans kept begging for the songs they know and love. The songs that shaped their lives. And if Chris is to be honest, and be free as a musician, (and a total gangster), he has to give them what they want. He has to play the hits. And so, As The Crow Flies, took off. (pun intended.) As The Crow Flies play the Black Crows catalogue, and they play it with passion. Chris said, “I’m not out to redo the Black Crows, or out-do the Black Crows, or anything like that. I just want to sing the music.”

Thanks, Chris.
